❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Forge Calculator work?
The calculator simulates The Forge's crafting system. Select ores in the left panel to fill up to four forge slots. It computes the combined multiplier, weapon/armor crafting odds, damage output, DPS, and active traits based on your ore composition, quality setting, and enhancement level.
What is the minimum number of ores needed?
You need at least 3 total ores to craft anything in The Forge. The calculator will show results once you've added 3 or more ores across the four available slots. More ores generally mean better items!
How do ore traits work?
Traits activate when an ore reaches at least 10% of the total composition (by count). For example, if you have 10 total ores, you need at least 1 of a specific ore to activate its trait. Trait strength scales with the ore's percentage using the transferred stat formula: (4.5 × percentage - 35), capped between 0-100%.
What's the difference between Weapon and Armor mode?
Weapon mode shows weapon crafting odds (Daggers, Swords, Katanas, etc.) and weapon-specific traits. Armor mode shows armor crafting odds (Light/Medium/Heavy Helmets, Leggings, Chestplates) and armor-specific traits. Some ores have traits that only work for one type.
How does quality affect my forge?
Quality percentage directly multiplies your final damage output. 100% quality is standard. Higher quality (up to 150%) increases damage proportionally. The formula is: Damage = Base DMG × Multiplier × 2 × Quality%.
What do enhancement levels do?
Each enhancement level (+1 to +10) adds 5% to your damage output. Additionally, enhancement levels +3, +6, and +9 unlock rune slots, allowing you to add runes for extra bonuses. Enhancement is crucial for end-game builds.
How are crafting odds calculated?
Crafting odds are based on your total ore count. Different ore totals have different probability distributions for weapon/armor types. For example, 3 ores always gives a Dagger, while 25+ ores can give Colossal Swords. The calculator uses the exact in-game odds tables.
Can I remove ores from slots?
Yes! Click on any filled slot to remove one ore at a time. This lets you fine-tune your composition. Use the "Clear All Slots" button to start completely fresh.
